Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Ode of Hyke hit on a fresh aspect of Moncler's history to riff on in their first Genius collection. As they said via an email: "In 1952, Moncler was producing tents, sleeping bags and clothing for mountaineers and the factory workers created down - filled jackets for themselves to protect them against the cold while working. The French mountaineer Lionel Terray realized that Moncler Jackets these jackets with goose down filling created a lightweight jacket that was extremely warm and he saw the potential for mountaineers to use these jackets for expeditions to challenge even higher summits that had not been climbed before." Huh! I'd alway heard that Terray brought the idea back from Canada - and that in fact the down jacket had entered the mountaineering lexicon thanks to Australian George Finch - but really, it doesn't much matter.
In essence, MONDOGENIUS created 11 shows in 1 and spotlighted the worlds that birthed each collection. Starting in Shanghai, the show was led by 3 Moncler Grenoble, leading into Hiroshi Fujiwara's FRGMT, and DingYun Zhang. In Milan, JW Anderson presented a short film, www.monclersoutlets.com while 2 Moncler 1952 Man celebrated art, with Craig Green and Palm Angels closing off the European leg of the tour.
In short, he's never been the type of person to stay within a single discipline. "I always want to do bits and pieces with many people. Moncler has always believed that to push the boundaries of creating the new you need to bring other voices in, as there is a great power in listening to what others have to say.
